The Facebook Social Network can be used as a powerful marketing strategy. You can use Facebook to tap into huge markets thus maximizing your profits. This article will illustrate a few ways to utilize the awesome networking and money-making potential behind Facebook.

  1. 1

When setting up your profile, be sure to use a professional picture as your primary image. In the “About Me” section, keep it short and simple. Mention a little about yourself and the nature of your business.

  2. 2

On your “Wall” under Information, list your website(s) and blog(s). If you want to add or delete any information just click on the pencil icon.

Do not over-saturate your Wall with information about your business or what you may be selling. The objective is to network in order to establish relationships. As you make more and more connections, and your network grows in the process. Your new associates will find their way to your business website without excessive promos.

Use the Wall to display your diverse interest including personal information, such as hobbies, likes, dislikes, etc. In the “What’s on your mind” section, at the top of your Wall, share what project you’re working on and it’s ok to include a link.

  3. 3

In the Photos section add personal and business images that will tell a story of how you work and play.

The Links section displays articles and pages that you have connected with Facebook, and shows a brief synopsis of what the article or page is about.

Use the Notes tab to generate a note to your associates, this can include a link to one of your projects. The note won’t appear on your Wall but one click, takes your associates to that screen.

  4. 4

Do not send bulk emails from Facebook. Most go unread, especially if there are several names in the address bar. The last thing you want is to be labeled a spammer because it does irreparable damage to your online reputation.

  5. 5

When soliciting or adding friends on Facebook, don’t just send the “friend request,” add a personal note by using first names if possible. If there is something you might have in common, mention the commonality in your request because this increases your chances of adding quality to your network. You want to choose people that will help to expand your business and your Internet presence. Facebook allows no more than 5000 friends. Most people don’t have 5000 associates but you want to strive for that number. There are 300 million plus Facebook users throughout the world. Your select friends should be individuals who will help your network to thrive and your profits to soar.
