Several school districts in the US that bought take-home laptops for whole classes or schools couldn’t afford it long-term. Some schools are looking to cheaper desktop virtualization solutions  instead (Desktop visualization–Desktop computers are shared among several users through deployment of  software on the desktop that would be shared with several users connected to shared computing devices e.g LG Network Monitor,N-computing devices).

But who will pay for them?

But several have run into the same problem: They can’t afford to keep buying and maintaining all those Laptops.

Instead, tech savvy governments and others are taking a variety of steps to increase technology access: Deploying LGs Client Monitor or other desktop virtualisation solutions that stay on campus. Opening up school wireless networks so students can get online with their own Internet devices. Working with LG vendors to give families discounts on computers.

One thing tech gurus tend to agree on: Someday soon, personal Internet devices of some kind will be standard-issue in classrooms but on entry level for education Laptops are not a consensus.
